The auction for the 2027 IPL season is scheduled to take place in about two months. This time, a mini-auction will be held. Therefore, only a limited number of players will be purchased. The number of available players will be determined by the retention announcement on 15 November. Each team will announce the names of their released and retained players. Ahead of this announcement, Delhi Capitals are confused about one of their star players. This player is Mitchell Starc, who is not certain to play next season.
Delhi Capitals confused over Mitchell Starc
Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc was bought by Delhi Capitals for ₹11.75 crore in the 2025 IPL season. He was then retained for the 2026 season as well. His performances in both seasons were impressive. Hence, there was a possibility of retaining him for the 2027 IPL season ahead of next year’s mega auction. However, Stark has not yet taken any decision on the matter.

According to the report, Starc is yet to make up his mind about the next season as a special Test match will be played between Australia and England in 2027 to mark 150 years of Test cricket. The match will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia from March 11 to 15.
Suspense over the play of Cummins-Hazelwood
The IPL 2027 season will also start in March and will continue till the end of May. Then, in June, the Australian team will travel to England, where the two teams will play in the Ashes. As a result, Starc’s participation remains uncertain, as he will want to keep himself fit and fresh for the Ashes. Not just Starc, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins and Royal Challengers Bangalore star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood are also unlikely to play next season.
