TWO people have died and seven others are “seriously” injured after a horror car crash.
The multi-vehicle smash happened in Barugh Green area of Barnsley, South Yorkshire, at around 2pm today.
A spokesperson for the police said: “We were called at 2pm today to reports of a road traffic collision involving multiple vehicles, at the Barugh Green crossroad junction in Barnsley.
“Officers are currently attending alongside the fire and ambulance services.
“Two people have sadly been pronounced dead at the scene. A further seven people are receiving hospital treatment, where their injuries are serious, but not thought to be life-threatening.
“The crossroad junction which includes Cawthorne Road, Barugh Green Road and High Common Road is currently closed.
“We expect road closures to remain in place for a long period of time while emergency services conduct their work. Please avoid the area and plan alternative routes if possible.”
