4 officials of the engineer department have been suspended due to the scam in the community work being done in Sarkhej in Ahmedabad. A vigilance inquiry was conducted in the matter of irregularities in the working of the community hall. After the investigation, Municipal Commissioner M. Thennarus has suspended 4 officials.
Dhawal Gajjar, Dilawar Hathila, Grishma Shah and Bipin Chawda are included. The construction of the hall did not work according to the design that holds the cement. Vigilance investigation revealed that items other than steel, concrete were not included in quality assurance.
The commissioner has also blacklisted a project management consultancy. On the other hand, recovery action has been taken by giving penalty notice to the contractor.
Rupesh Modi as Design Consultant, Technoman Consultant as PMC and P. Das Infrastructure as Contractor to build this Community Hall Rs. 13.67 crore was assigned. So far the contractor has paid Rs. 2.81 crore, the consultant Rs. 2.90 lakhs has been paid.
