Thailand has made your next holiday even easier by extending its visa-free entry policy for Indian nationals indefinitely. The move, announced by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), was initially set to expire on November 11, 2024, but now has no end date.
The policy, first introduced in November 2023, allows Indian tourists to enter Thailand without a visa for up to 60 days. Also, if you want to stay longer, you can extend your stay for another 30 days at the Immigration Office.
Before this visa-free scheme, applying for a Thai visa required a fee of around 3,000 rupees along with documents such as a bank statement, proof of foreign currency and hotel booking. Now, there is no obligation to do that entire process. Which makes Thailand more accessible and affordable. Due to which the number of Indian tourists in Thailand has increased significantly.
According to reports, 16.17 million Indian visitors visited Thailand from January to mid-October this year.
Travel industry insiders say this visa-free entry has encouraged spontaneous travel and last-minute holiday plans, and Thailand is now established as an ideal international short-haul destination. The impact of the visa-free policy goes far beyond individual travellers. Thailand's beautiful locations and luxury resorts have long been preferred for destination weddings and with visa-free entry, Thailand has seen a significant increase in the number of Indian weddings and large group events.
