Brussels plotting to make UK GIVE UP sovereignty, secret papers reveal, as Sun launches campaign to stop Brexit betrayal

A FRESH Brussels plot to have Britain surrender our sovereignty once again is laid bare in secret papers — fuelling mounting fears the Government will unpick Brexit.

As Sir Keir Starmer seeks a “reset in relations” with the EU, the European Commission will demand a high price on migration and bind us back under their red tape and their court.

Leave supporters fear Sir Keir, who spent years campaigning for a second referendum, wants to reverse Brexit by the back door[/caption]

Today, The Sun launches a campaign — Don’t Betray Brexit — as Leavers warn that the plans are a “stealth attempt” to bring Britain back into the EU fold forever.

Negotiating tactics documents reveal the EU want a fresh raid on our fishing waters before reset talks even begin — and a youth mobility scheme allowing for freedom of movement for the under-30s in return for a security and crime accord, and the softening of agricultural goods checks.

Attempts by the UK to gain better access for our world-leading defence firms into the European market have already been rejected outright.

Former Brexit negotiator Lord Frost warned that the PM’s price for a security deal with the bloc will be a return to taking their rules and European Court of Justice judgments.

The pioneer of our free trade accord with Brussels said last night: “Labour’s unnecessary reset negotiation with the EU will achieve nothing useful for Britain. It will, however, start to subordinate us to the EU once again.

“The EU says it won’t talk until we agree in advance to give away our fishing grounds once again.

“And they won’t agree to anything significant unless Labour agrees to bring EU law back on to our statute book and to make us subject to rulings of the EU’s court.”

Lord Frost added: “It’s all too likely that Labour will agree to all this in their desperation to reach a deal.

“It’s not too late for them to step back from this ill-omened renegotiation.

“If they don’t, they will be making the same mistakes as Theresa May and will end with the same result — the legal and political subjugation of this country to Brussels in large areas of national life.”

Back into the EU by stealth

Following the leak of Brussels’ plans, the PM faced a wall of criticism from other Leave supporters.

They fear Sir Keir, who spent years campaigning for a second referendum, wants to reverse Brexit by the back door.

Ex-Cabinet Minister Jacob Rees-Mogg said: “I support The Sun’s campaign.”

He added that Labour is “trying to take us back into the EU by stealth. It’s a game of grandmother’s footsteps in the hope the British people won’t notice”.

Former Brexit Minister David Jones said: “Sir Keir appears to be surrendering to the jurisdiction of a foreign court. He is not a patriot, he wants to give away independence of this country.

“He was the man who wanted a second referendum so has always hated Brexit.

“Sir Keir should remember his majority is on a minority vote and people will be appalled at his duplicity in taking this action.”

The Sun newspaper logo and the phrase "Don't Betray Brexit" on a background of the UK and EU flags.
The Sun today launches the Don’t Betray Brexit campaign

Fellow ex-Brexit Minister Steve Baker said: “This is Groundhog Day. The UK is out and making its way.

“Any return to EU law for the whole UK repudiates the result. The unique circumstances of Northern Ireland are no excuse — NI has an open border with a foreign, EU country where Britain does not.

“Alas, there is nothing Conservative, Reform or DUP MPs can do to stop any reversal by the PM. Only a resolute and well-organised band of Labour MPs could stop him.

“That puts huge power in the hands of Sun readers with Labour MPs. Write to them!”

Yesterday, Downing Street distanced themselves from claims of a “Surrender Squad” being set up within Whitehall to reverse Brexit. More than 100 officials have been drafted to work on the PM’s reset ahead of formal talks with the EU.

When asked if such a team had been set up, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said: “No.”

They added: “The Prime Minister has said we want to reset out relationship with the EU and make Brexit work for the British people.

“We have seen very positive engagement in our early conversations as we work to reset the relationship with our European partners to strengthen ties, secure broad-based security pacts and tackle barriers to trade.”

The row came as the EU began legal action against Britain at the European Court of Justice in a quibble over divorce terms.

Former Brexit Minister David Jones said: ‘Sir Keir appears to be surrendering to the jurisdiction of a foreign court’[/caption]

The Commission says there was a failure to comply with Brussels’ law on the free movement of their citizens.

Those already living in Britain and their families are allowed to stay to live and work — with a reciprocal deal in place for Brits on the continent.

The court says there are “several shortcomings” in how the UK has rolled out the deal.

4 WAYS EU WOULD SHAFT BRITAIN

EUROCRATS want to claw back freedoms and gains from the UK leaving the bloc.

A leaked report reveals EU countries want major changes to the Brexit deal as part of a renegotiation.

Here are the key areas where Brussels wants concessions.

Brussels wants any new trade deal to put the UK under ECJ jurisdiction, leaving Britain answerable to EU judges[/caption]

THE European Court of Justice is at the heart of the EU’s plans to tighten its grip on Britain.

Brussels wants any new trade deal to place the UK back under the ECJ’s jurisdiction for interpreting EU law — making Britain answerable to EU judges.

          FREE MOVEMENT

LABOUR could be about to open the door to what critics call “free movement by stealth”.

A youth mobility, or “experience” scheme, long demanded by Brussels, would let under-30s live, work, and study freely between the UK and EU.

          FISHING

          Alamy

A stealth deal would be a betrayal of fishermen, such as the fleet at Brixham, above, who say the EU has long pillaged our best stocks[/caption]

BRUSSELS is pushing hard for the UK to hand back control of its fishing waters in a trade deal.

It would be a betrayal of fishermen, who say the EU has long pillaged our best stocks.

We would also have to undo the marine protections established post-Brexit.

          TRADE AND SECURITY

BRUSSELS wants Britain to sign up to “dynamic alignment” with EU regulations in exchange for better trade and security ties.

This would mean the UK must copy EU rules as they change, hurting our ability to strike trade deals with the likes of the US.

'Return is like rats JOINING a sinking ship'

Brussels plotting to make UK GIVE UP sovereignty, secret papers reveal, as Sun launches campaign to stop Brexit betrayal

          By Trevor Kavanagh

SO this shifty looking punter walks into a Tesla showroom and is greeted by a jolly orange giant with a wide smile and open arms.

“Have we got a deal for you!” yells the super salesman.

“Our limos not only drive themselves, they take you anywhere you want to go in the world’s richest country.

“In return, you can buy some chlorine-washed chickens, but that’s your consumers’ choice.”

The gent looks at the gift horse and says: “What about that half-empty VW showroom across the road and the Renault closing-down sale next door?”

“Oh yeah”, says the dealer, “they charge like wounded bulls just to let you inside the door. Those guys are going out of business because they don’t give a damn about their customers. And you won’t be able to catch a fish you can call your own.”

This is the scenario facing Sir Keir Starmer as he rejects a glittering US trade deal and, like a dog to its vomit, returns to the clapped-out, cash-strapped socialist EU bloc.

Starmer is poised to betray 17.4 million Brits who seized the chance in 2016 for Britain to leave the EU and make its own way in the world. If that means losing dozens of Red Wall seats to Nigel Farage or the Tories, so be it.

Starmer pretends he is still deciding between a trade deal with the booming US under Donald Trump or a sly “reset” which means abject surrender to Brussels. Indeed the prospect of a US trade deal is already dead in the water.

Downing Street has a 100-strong team of eager beavers working on negotiations — ten times as many as on Brexit — and EU heavies are licking their lips over punishing us for daring to leave.

Leftie MPs and ministers would rather slit their throats than do a US trade deal with the world’s most powerful leader, the man they love to hate.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy has denounced Trump as a “neo-Nazi sympathising sociopath”. Health supremo Wes Streeting calls him “an odious, sad, little man”.

And Starmer says “humanity and dignity” are foreign words to a Trump White House.

In a swift reverse ferret after the Republican landslide, the PM now hails The Donald’s comeback as a “historic victory”.

He can see the author of The Art of the Deal has the world at his feet. Events in Syria and the Middle East have upended the global poker table, leaving Trump holding all the aces.

Russia, China and, crucially, the Mullahs of Tehran are on the back foot.

As Commander-in-Chief with supremacy over Congress and the Supreme Court, Trump will be able to make EU and Nato allies dance to his tune.

His first step will be to impose trade tariffs — or taxes — on what he sees as unfair competition to the US.

China is in his crosshairs, but so is Brussels and its subsidised farmers and manufacturers. And Britain, if Starmer missteps.

A US trade deal would protect Britain from tariffs and open the world’s biggest market to British firms — and jobs.

In return, we would need to ditch regulations on farm produce inherited from Brussels — seen in Washington as the “Museum of Agriculture”. It is, literally, a no-brainer.

Returning to the EU would be tantamount to rats joining a sinking ship. Brussels has never forgiven Britain for voting Leave.

Wherever possible, spiteful Commission chiefs have punished us with the harshest interpretation of European Court of Justice rulings.

A needless veto on trade across the Irish Sea almost unravelled the fragile Good Friday peace agreement.

An armada of illegal immigrants has been wished bon voyage, sailing unhindered from the beaches of France and Belgium.

Now “Sir Shifty”, who vowed repeatedly in the Election never to reverse Brexit, wants UK taxpayers to eat humble pie — and pay dearly for it.

Labour high command has learned nothing and forgotten nothing from the 2016 referendum.

Even back then, the former Common Market was already fragmenting.

Today, it is visibly coming apart at the seams, thanks to former German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

It was Merkel, revered champion of ever-closer union, who opened the borders to one million Syrians and Afghans in 2015, unravelling the fabric of European society and triggering Brexit.

It was Merkel who drove the disastrous green revolution, scrapping Germany’s nuclear power grid and leaving Europe exposed to Russian gas supply blackmail.

It was Merkel who slashed defence spending so deeply that German troops had to carry broom sticks instead of rifles for war games.

And it was mule-headed Merkel who put boosters under Brexit by humiliating PM David Cameron and refusing to strengthen Europe’s borders.

Merkel now admits in retirement that she might have done more to persuade Britain to vote Remain — a decision she blames for the “disgrace and humiliation” of the EU.

Today, the angry citizens of 27 member states, including once-welcoming Sweden and Denmark, are paying dearly for her bovine inflexibility. Every PM and president wants the same border controls Cameron sought.

They know uncontrolled mass immigration is wrecking what the dictatorial EU calls democracy. Germany and France, once its political and economic dynamos, face economic Armageddon as welfare budgets soar out of control — and wealth-generating industries, such as VW and Renault, grind to a standstill. Growth has slumped.

The EU is a basket case economy. And thanks to Rachel Reeves’ budget and Starmer’s so-called “reset”, Britain is becoming ever more closely aligned.
