The Mumbai team suffered a crushing defeat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The Karnataka team defeated Mumbai in the match played at B ground of Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This match between the two teams was very high scoring and the Mumbai team could not defend the target despite scoring 382 runs. The hero of Karnataka's victory was Krishnan Srujith, who has been bought by the Mumbai team for IPL 2025. Krishnan Sreejith is a wicketkeeper batsman.
In this match played between the two teams, the Karnataka team won the toss and decided to bowl first. But very good batting was seen from Mumbai. Shreyas Iyer played a captaincy innings of 114 not out in 55 balls. While Shivam Dubey scored an unbeaten 63 runs off 36 balls, due to which the Mumbai team could score 382 runs at the loss of 4 wickets in 50 overs. But this score proved small against Karnataka's explosive batting.
While chasing the target, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal gave the team a good start. He played an innings of 47 runs in 48 balls. Along with this, Kavi Anish also contributed 82 runs. This was followed by a match winning innings between Krishnan Srujith and Praveen Dubey. Praveen Dubey scored an unbeaten 65 off 50 balls.
On the other hand, Krishnan Srujith played an unbeaten innings of 150 runs off 101 balls. Krishnan Srujith's innings includes 20 fours and 4 sixes. Due to Sreejeet's strong innings, Karnataka achieved this target in 46.2 overs with the loss of 3 wickets.
28-year-old Krishnan Srujith hasn't played much domestic cricket yet. This was only his third List A match. Apart from this he has played only 1 first class match so far. He came into the limelight during the mega auction of IPL 2025. The Mumbai team has made him a part of their team for over 30 years.
