Ahead of the start of the Champions Trophy 2025, some reports claimed that the Indian team had refused to have Pakistan's name on their jerseys for the Champions Trophy. Usually all teams have the name of the country hosting the tournament on their jerseys. After which a new controversy arose.
However, now a big statement has come out from BCCI on this issue. BCCI's new secretary Devjit Saikia has also now confirmed that BCCI will follow every ICC rule regarding jerseys during the Champions Trophy. That means the name of Pakistan, the host of this tournament, will be on the jersey of Team India.
According to ICC rules, all teams participating in all tournaments held under the ICC banner are required to wear the name of the tournament along with the name of the host country and the year of the tournament on the right side of the chest.
Recently, the Pakistani media took up the issue and accused the BCCI of refusing to print Pakistan's name on Team India's jersey. The PCB also wanted to take the issue to the ICC. But the BCCI has now rubbished all these reports and announced that it will abide by every ICC rule regarding the jersey.
Team India will play their first match against Bangladesh on February 20 in the Champions Trophy. Then on February 23, Team India will play the second match of the tournament against Pakistan. Team India will face New Zealand in its last match on March 2. After this, the semi-final and then the final will be played. If Team India qualifies for the semi-finals and final, these matches will also be played in Dubai. (All Photo Credit : PTI)
