Under the Indus Water Treaty 1960, there are agreements for water distribution between India and Pakistan. According to this treaty, India has full control over the water of Satlej, Bias and Ravi. The water of Bias and Satlej rivers is released for Pakistan only in the case of water levels due to heavy rains during the monsoon, the central government informed in the Lok Sabha.
Union Minister of State for Water Shakti Rajbhushan Chowdhury said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that the water of Satalaj and Bias rivers is given to Pakistan only in the monsoon season and in special cases.
The government said in Parliament on Thursday that very little water is provided to Pakistan from the Sutlej and Bias rivers. This happens during the monsoon and in special cases. Central Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Chowdhury gave this information in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. Under the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, water has been distributed between India and Pakistan. The issue has been a matter of controversy for decades.

Indo-Pakistan Indus Water Agreement
The Indus Water Treaty was signed in Karachi, Pakistan on September 19, 1960. After the World Bank initiatives and the two countries, the agreement eventually took shape after the negotiations for about 9 years. The agreement was signed by the then Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru and the then military dictator and Pakistan's President Ayub Khan.
