The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced a few days ago that it wanted to honor India captain Rohit Sharma, India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who won the T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy. The MCA planned to do this during the IPL 2025 match, but the tournament had to be stopped, causing it to be postponed. Now the MCA has finally done it.

Inauguration by parents
On Friday, at a special program at Wankhede Stadium, the MCA inaugurated a stand in the name of Rohit. Meanwhile, Rohit’s wife and parents were also present. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, former MCA President Sharad Pawar, current MCA President Ajinkya Naik and many other officials and fans were also present. What is special is that Rohit did not press the button to remove the veil from the stand, but this auspicious task was completed by his parents.

Rohit described the honor as very special and said that he would have a completely different feeling for him when he plays on this field again. Team India’s ODI captain said, “I have retired from two formats but I am still playing a format. So it is very special to get this kind of honor while playing. Now on the 21st, when I play from Mumbai Capitals for Mumbai Indians, my name on the stand will be very special.”
