
ICC will announce the schedule of 2026 T20 World Cup in near future. However, before that the venues for the matches have been shortlisted. 2026 T20 World Cup matches can be played in five cities in India. According to a report, BCCI officials have held a meeting regarding this, in which it has been decided to host the 2026 T20 World Cup in fewer cities than the 2023 ODI World Cup.
T20 World Cup matches to be held in 5 cities!
Reportedly, the meeting of BCCI officials also agreed to host six matches at each venue. Now, the question is which Indian cities have BCCI shortlisted for the 2026 T20 World Cup? Five cities are included in this list. BCCI has shortlisted Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Mumbai for the T20 World Cup.
The matches will be held in three stadiums in Sri Lanka
Along with India, Sri Lanka will also host the T20 World Cup in 2026. It is believed that the World Cup matches will be held in three stadiums in Sri Lanka. However, it is not yet clear which will be the three locations.
Matches will not be played at Women's World Cup venues
According to a report, it is not clear whether Bengaluru or Lucknow will be considered as the venue. The BCCI has refused to award the 2026 T20 World Cup to the venues that recently hosted the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup. Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore and Navi Mumbai are the four venues in India where matches have been hosted in the Women's ODI World Cup.
So the final will not be held in India
The ICC has made it clear to the BCCI that if Sri Lanka qualify for the semi-finals, they will have to play in Colombo. However, if Pakistan reaches the final, the title match will be held at a neutral venue. This means that the final will not be held in India.
