In the fourth T20 match, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited India to bat first. The Indian opening pair of Shefali Verma and Smriti Mandhana took an aggressive approach from the start and put the Sri Lankan bowlers on the backfoot. Shefali completed his half-century with a four off the first ball of the 11th over. He achieved this feat by hitting nine fours in just 30 balls.
Third Indian woman batsman to score three or more half-centuries
With this inning, Shefali Verma has also created a special record in his name. She became the third Indian woman batsman to score three or more consecutive half-centuries in T20 International cricket. This feat was achieved by Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana before Shefali.
Mithali Raj scored four consecutive T20 international half-centuries from 2016 to 2018, while Smriti Mandhana equaled the record from 2024–2025. Shefali Verma now has a golden opportunity to equal the records of both Mithali Raj and Smriti Mandhana by scoring another half-century in the fifth and final T20 match of the series.
