The package includes $3.5 billion for essential wartime purchases. The remaining $5.2 billion is allocated for air defense systems. It includes Iron Dome anti-missile system, David Sling and advanced laser system. Israel's Defense Ministry says the aid reinforces “the strong and enduring strategic partnership between Israel and the United States and its unwavering commitment to Israel's security.”
It may be mentioned here that the Israeli army claimed to have killed a Hezbollah drone commander in an airstrike on an apartment building in the suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah had no immediate comment on Israel's claim that commander Mohammad Hussain Suroor had been killed.
