Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to destroy Hezbollah just like Hamas. Israel will continue to attack terrorists with full force until they stop firing rockets at us from across the border, Netanyahu announced. Following Netanyahu's vow to Lebanon, the US and dashed hopes of a cease-fire offer by other European countries.
America may be trying to convince Israel for a ceasefire, but the US is also giving Israel huge packages of arms and missiles through the back door. Not for the first time, the US continued to aid Israel despite allegations of horrific massacres of innocents during the Gaza war.
On Thursday, the Israeli army launched a new offensive in Lebanon. Another senior Hezbollah commander was killed in the attack. In a retaliatory attack, dozens of rockets were also fired at Israel from the Lebanese side. The effect of this fierce conflict is that people living in the border areas of Israel and Lebanon have started fleeing for their lives. They are being shifted to safer places.
Netanyahu also vowed to eliminate Hezbollah
We will continue to attack Hezbollah with full force until it stops attacking us,” Netanyahu, who arrived in New York to attend the annual gathering of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly, announced. Netanyahu made the remarks as American and European officials try to stem the tide of a new conflict in the Middle East. American officials have advised Israel not to go to war, saying that this war can be avoided through diplomacy.
Aid to Israel through America's back door
On the one hand, America, together with European countries, is urging Israel to stop the ceasefire. On the other hand, Israel is being given a huge financial package for missiles and weapons. Israel has received an $8.7 billion aid package from the US to support its ongoing military efforts and maintain a qualitative military edge in the region.
Israel's Defense Ministry said in a statement on Thursday. Let us tell you that even during the Gaza war, America continued to help Israel financially. Although the Israeli army was accused of the horrific massacres and killing of innocents in Gaza, the US was seen trying to convince Israel for a cease-fire and on the other hand it continued to help Israel.
Where will American help be used?
The package includes $3.5 billion for essential wartime purchases. The remaining $5.2 billion is allocated for air defense systems. It includes Iron Dome anti-missile system, David Sling and advanced laser system. Let us tell you that Israel is currently fighting on two fronts, against Hamas in Gaza and against Hezbollah in Lebanon. Israel's Defense Ministry says the aid reinforces “the strong and enduring strategic partnership between Israel and the United States and its unwavering commitment to Israel's security.”
It may be mentioned here that the Israeli army claimed to have killed a Hezbollah drone commander in an airstrike on an apartment building in the suburbs of Beirut. Hezbollah had no immediate comment on Israel's claim that commander Mohammad Hussain Suroor had been killed.
