Rahane-Shreyas' strong batting
Mumbai team came to bat first in this match, but their top order was sent back to the pavilion by fast bowler Mukesh Kumar. Mukesh Prithvi Shaw, 17-year-old debutant Ayush Mhatre and Hardik Tamor were sent back to the pavilion for just 37 runs after the arrival of Akash Deep. Troubled Mumbai needed their most experienced batsmen at such times and captain Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer did just that. Sarfaraz Khan's Damdar Fifty
After this, Rahane got the support of Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfraz, who made his Test debut in March this year, did not get a chance in the playing XI for any of the Tests against Bangladesh and was dropped midway through the Kanpur Test. Sarfraz responded with his bat and scored a brilliant half-century to put the team in good stead. Although the star of the day was captain Rahane, for whom Team India's doors were almost closed, he still tried his best to save Mumbai. Rahane and Sarfaraz put on a partnership of 98 runs to take the team to 237 runs for 4 wickets. Mukesh took 3 wickets and Yash Dayal took 1 wicket for Rest of India.
