The violence in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is unabated. On Saturday, unidentified gunmen opened fire on a passenger vehicle. At least 11 people have died, while 6 people have been injured. Kurram Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javidullah Mehsud said gunmen attacked a passenger vehicle in Kanj Alizai area of Kurram district, which borders Afghanistan. The attackers opened fire on the vehicle, killing 11 passengers and injuring six others, including a woman.
He said law enforcement personnel reached the spot and cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to nab the absconding accused.

The deputy commissioner (DC) of Kurram said the firing took place near the Pak-Afghan border on the Kunj Alizai hills and the roads there. DC Mehsud said steps are being taken to secure entry and exit routes to Kurram and restore law and order in the area. Former MNA and jirga member Pir Haider Ali Shah said the latest incident of unrest was unfortunate as the jirga members were already there to broker a peace accord among the tribals.
