CR Patil (Union Water Resources Minister) inaugurated Gujarat's first semiconductor plant at Palsana in Surat on Sunday. In which information was also revealed that 3 lakh chips will be produced every day in Suchi Semicon's plant spread over an area of 30,000 square feet. This plant has been set up with an investment of Rs 840 crore.
During the inauguration, Patil said, “Semiconductors are the most important component for manufacturing electronics and the most important raw material for the digital revolution. Entrepreneurs from the state are trying to supply semiconductors not only in India but across the world. So Gujarat has such products. Starting production.” He said that after Kovid, Suchi Semicon established the plant and made it operational in a very short time.
Congratulating Ashok Mehta, founder of Suchi Semicon, Patil said, “Mehta started his career with a Rs 1,500 job. Today, 1,500 talented electronic engineers are working in his semiconductor plant,” Patil said.
Minister of State for Home and Industries Harsh Sanghvi was also present during the inauguration of the semiconductor plant and said, “Gujarat and Gujaratis have the potential to realize PM Modi's dream of making India self-reliant in the semiconductor sector, which Suchi Group has proved. Always in promoting industrial growth and innovation. Being at the forefront.”
Ashok Mehta, founder of the plant, said during the event, “We did research and analysis for two consecutive years and traveled to 12 countries before completing the construction of the plant in one year.” In this regard, his son Sheetal said, “The plant will manufacture semiconductor chips according to global standards. We will provide 1200 new jobs in the next five years.”
