A FAMILY are on beans and toast for the rest of the month after forking out £618 for just two hotdogs at a Christmas market.

The couple treated the children to two Frankfurt sausages, listed as £9 each.
But Alan tapped his phone on the card machine without checking the amount.
The couple were “shocked” to realise he’d forked out £618 instead of the £18 owed.
The “apologetic” vendor said she was refunding the couple £600 – but Laura said it’s yet to land in Alan’s bank account.
Taking to TikTok, the mum shared video footage of the hotdog stand owner refunding her husband.
The vendor is heard saying ‘Refunded £600 – I’m so sorry” before Laura holds the receipt showing the astonishing sum.
Laura, from Scunthorpe in north Lincolnshire, said: “They were the most expensive hotdogs ever.
“I was very shocked. I just couldn’t believe it. £18 just for two hotdogs is a lot of money as well.
“My husband just got his phone on apple pay and just tapped it. I don’t even know if he looked at it.”
She added: “Just a habit of tap and she was like ‘Oh my god, I’m sorry’. It was £618.
“He checked his bank and it went straight away. I thought it would bounce straight away. I did think there was a £100 limit.
“I jokingly said ‘does that mean we get free sausages for the rest of the year’. I thought ‘if I don’t laugh about it…’.”
The mum-of-two revealed the vendor promised to refund the money after she realised her mistake.
But a week on, Alan is still reportedly waiting for the money to reach his account.
Despite still having to pay for the sausages, their kids, 14-year-old Ryley and 10-year-old Florence, enjoyed the food regardless.
Cleaning firm boss Laura said: “The vendor was very apologetic. It was an honest mistake.
“She said: ‘I can give you a refund. It should take about an hour’. But it’s still not there now.
“It’s a lot of money to be missing just before Christmas as well. It’s just typical of our family.
“We have a lot of bad luck. And around this time of year. It’s a bit of a thing.
“Don’t go out the house because anything could happen around Christmas.
“We were still charged for the sausages. I thought, especially because it was for the kids, I thought they’d at least get a free sausage.
“It was just a very expensive family day out. The kids actually said they tasted good.”
She added: “Looks like we’re on beans on toast for the rest of the month.”
