There has been a heated confrontation between the Pakistan Cricket Board and the tournament organizers regarding the World Championship of Legends 2026. The PCB had placed several conditions for granting a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Pakistan Champions League to participate in the tournament. However, the World Championship of Legends management categorically rejected all the demands of the PCB, resulting in the withdrawal of the Pakistan team from the tournament.
Apologize and demand a handshake
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) attached two conditions to its NOC approval. The PCB said it would not mind if the Indian players did not participate in the tournament. Additionally, the PCB demanded that the Indian players tender a written apology for their absence from the field last year. Further, the PCB also made the agreement conditional on a formal handshake between the two teams.

Pakistan out of the tournament
However, the tournament management took a stern stance on the PCB’s stand, and clarified that such conditions cannot be imposed on any player or team. The WCL management accepted the board’s commercial terms, but completely rejected the terms of an apology and a handshake from the Indian players. Following this strict stance by the organizers, the Pakistan Champions League team has now been kicked out of the tournament.
