Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin feels Rohit Sharma should be the captain of Mumbai Indians for IPL 2027. Rohit, who was dropped from the captaincy by Mumbai in IPL 2024, is once again in the discussion of his captaincy. Media reports claim that Hardik may now leave MI.
If Hardik leaves Mumbai, the franchise will need a captain. A mega auction is scheduled to take place before IPL 2028 and Ashwin feels that if Rohit becomes the captain for a year, everything can be fixed. The former veteran spinner also feels that Hardik will not stay with Mumbai and will be seen playing with a new franchise next season.
Rohit Sharma can fix everything: Ravichandran Ashwin
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ashwin talked about making Rohit the captain for the next season. He said, “I think the combination of Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard can prove to be good. I don’t know if it will happen but I am very confident that Hardik Pandya will not be with the franchise. The chances of him staying there are very slim. Suryakumar Yadav is out of the Indian team, so his chances of captaining are also slim.”
ROHIT SHARMA X KIERON POLLARD A GOOD COMBINATION
Ravi Ashwin said,
“I think Rohit and Pollard can be a good combination. This might happen, I don’t know. I am sure Hardik will not be there. His chances of staying there are very low. Suryakumar is out of the Indian team. I don’t see him captaining MI. It has become a big problem. This team needs to fix a lot of things now. Anyway, there is only one year left for the mega auction. Who has the experience to fix these things in this short time? It is Rohit. So I think it is an obvious choice, at least for this year. He has a good bond with Polly.”

The former off-spinner continued, “It has become a very big problem and everything needs to be fixed now. There is only one year left in the mega auction. If anyone has the experience to fix things in such a short time, it is Rohit Sharma. So I think Rohit is the best option for at least one year. His bonding with Poly is also good.”
Kieran Pollard will be the Head Coach
Mumbai have removed Mahela Jayawardene from the coaching post for the upcoming season. In his place, the franchise has appointed Kieron Pollard as the new head coach, who will try to give the team a new direction. Jayawardene was removed from his position due to Mumbai’s three consecutive seasons of poor performances.
