Pakistan has finally got a new prime minister, putting an end to the long-running political speculation. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s younger brother Shahbaz Sharif has been given the command of Pakistan. But after becoming the Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif raised the issue of Kashmir in his first address.
In his very first address, Shahbaz raised the issue of Kashmir and compared it with Palestine. He said, let us all together, the National Assembly should pass a resolution for the freedom of Kashmiris and Palestinians. He said global silence can be seen on the situation in Gaza.
First Address of Shahbaz Sharif
Pakistan’s newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his maiden address on Sunday promised to improve relations with all major countries, including the country’s neighbours. Shahbaz said that Pakistan will not be part of any games. He thanked his colleagues in the coalition government for believing in him and making him the leader of the house. Shahbaz further said that the development in the country when Nawaz was elected three times as Prime Minister is an example in itself and it is not wrong to say that Nawaz Sharif has built Pakistan.
Mention of debt-ridden Pakistan
Talking about Pakistan’s debt servicing burden, Shahbaz said that the country has to pay billions of rupees only as interest. Sharif said that the power sector in the country is collapsing due to mounting debt on power generating companies. Government-owned entities like Pakistan International Airlines are running at a loss of billions of rupees. In his address, Sharif promised to take the country on the path of development. Sharif said that I cannot say at this time, but the positive results of the various measures we will take will start coming after a year. Sharif said that he will make Pakistan self-reliant. Sharif gave the slogan ‘Nawaz’s vision and Shahbaz’s mission’.
Attacked the opposition
Hitting out at PTI and Imran Khan, Sharif said that PTI has put the entire opposition behind bars without caring for women and children and has used language that cannot be said out loud. This is the difference between leadership and that leadership. The entire assembly is a witness that we have never thought of revenge politics. Let us tell you that senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif has been elected as the next Prime Minister of Pakistan. He got 201 votes while his rival Omar Ayub Khan got 90 votes.
