Before the Russian presidential election, Vladimir Putin has raised the concern of the whole world with his statement. In an interview with Russian state media, Putin responded to the possibility that Western countries would jump into the war, saying that Russia is ready for any kind of war and is even ready to use nuclear weapons if Russia’s sovereignty is threatened. However, he also said that nothing was being done in haste but that he was fully prepared for a nuclear war.
Putin further stated that Russia has not yet needed to use weapons of mass destruction in the war against Ukraine. Apart from this, he warned the neighboring country Finland that if Finland joins NATO, they will deploy nuclear weapons on the Russia-Finland border.
The Kremlin’s nuclear doctrine
Putin also said in the interview that the Kremlin’s nuclear doctrine includes the use of nuclear weapons, dictating under what circumstances Russia should use its weapons. “We have our own principles and that includes the use of destructive weapons,” Putin added. Putin stressed that if America sends its troops to war, keep in mind that our nuclear weapons are not just for storage.
Ukraine carried out drone attacks
Putin’s statement comes at a time when Ukraine has carried out drone strikes on Russian territory for the second time in a row. According to reports, the attacks also affected Russia’s gas supply lines and cut off electricity in several villages in the Belgorod region. On Tuesday, two Ukrainian-backed armed militia groups claimed responsibility for cross-border attacks, sparking several hours of panic in Russia’s Belgorod and Kursk regions.
America warned Russia
There is going to be a big attack on Moscow, the capital of Russia, in 48 hours. The US Embassy in Russia has issued a warning about the attack on Moscow. According to American intelligence input, crowded places and large concerts in Moscow could be attacked. Presidential elections are scheduled to be held in Russia on March 15-17, and the United States issued the alert a week ago over the attack on Moscow.
