The Board of Control for Cricket in India is yet to announce the retention policy of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This time the mega auction is going to happen, so all the teams have started preparations. But it is not yet clear how many players teams will be allowed to retain. Amidst all this, big information has come out from the camp of Delhi Capitals. It is almost certain that Rishabh Pant will be retained. There has also been a major update which will see the retention of other players along with Pant.
Pant is Delhi's number-1 retained player
According to a Cricbuzz report, Delhi Capitals have decided to retain Rishabh Pant for IPL 2025. Rishabh Pant will be the top retained player from the franchise. Pant was getting Rs 16 crore from Delhi Capitals till last season, so it is certain that he will get this amount this time as well. However, it is also expected to increase. Rishabh Pant has been a part of the Delhi Capitals team since 2016 and will be seen playing for the same team in the upcoming season as well.
Akshar Patel-Kuldeep Yadav will be retained
Let us tell you that last time before the mega auction all the teams were allowed to retain 4 players each. But this time it is expected that the number of retentions may increase. According to reports, Delhi Capitals will retain Akshar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav if BCCI allows retention of more than five players. Apart from this, two overseas players Jack Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs will also be retained. Wicketkeeper-batsman Abhishek Porel will be Delhi Capitals' first option as an uncapped player.
Prithvi Show- Enrique will release Norkhia
Delhi Capitals retained Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Enrique Norkhia and Prithvi Shaw ahead of the 2022 mega auction. But Enrique Norrgia was unable to play many matches for the team due to injury, while the Prithvi Show continued to flop. In such a situation, now it is considered certain that these two players will be released. On the other hand, Jack Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs did very well for the team last season. In such a situation, the team is not in a mood to release these players this time.
