“YOU aren’t leaving the table until your plate is empty”.
It’s a phrase that many parents will have uttered over the years.
Polly will never force her daughter to eat all her food, insisting she wants her to learn her own hunger symptoms[/caption]
But one mother who makes sure she never does is parenting coach Polly.
Polly took to TikTok to reveal the “three reasons I don’t tell my daughter she has to eat everything on her plate”.
Firstly, Polly is trying to “encourage self-trust”.
“She knows better than I do how hungry she is and how much or little she wants to eat,” she continued.

The second reason is so that she “learns to eat according to her hunger cues and be able to stop when she’s full”.
And lastly, Polly is hoping to help her daughter “develop autonomy and a healthy relationship with food/mealtimes”.
“Helping kids build a healthy relationship with food,” Polly captioned her video.
She was quickly praised by many for sharing her tips, with one writing: “Made me smile. I did this with my daughter too!

“Oh that’s so good to hear from someone who is grown up and you can see the effect it’s had,” Polly replied. “Thank you.”
“I also do this! If a adult said they were full u wouldn’t start telling them to finish their meal would u?” another added.
“What do you do if she doesn’t finish her dinner but wants dessert?” someone else asked.
“I let her have dessert,” Polly answered.
