An international volunteering organisation is offering to send one lucky person to go on one of their 14-day programmes – for free.
But, there’s a twist: the location is a secret and won’t be revealed until after the lucky person has been chosen.
Volunteering Solutions, an organisation that offers international volunteering opportunities for secondary school and university students, gap year traveller and backpackers, in over 27 different countries, is offering one person a free trip to make an impact.
Though the location is secret, the one thing we do know is that wherever you go will give you the opportunity to make an impact in supporting the local communities, taking care of animals in conservation efforts, and working on local projects.
The trip will be arranged for summer 2022 for the successful applicant, depending on travel restrictions and Covid-19 travel guidelines at the time.
Though it’s a volunteering trip, the applicant will also get the chance to explore a part of the world that they may not have been able to before, getting the experience of a lifetime with a group of fellow volunteers from across the globe.
Because the company operates in 27 countries across five continents, the trip could be anywhere, and the project you will be working on can vary.
Volunteering Solutions currently has projects in environmental conservation, coaching football, female empowerment, animal care, construction and building projects, and healthcare.
The application fee and programme fee is covered by the company for this competition, but the applicant will still have to cover flights, airport transfer, excursions, visa and vaccination fees, and food and drink outside of the program.
Luni Chhochoon, Director at Volunteering Solutions, said: ‘Volunteers have always played an integral role in building communities and supporting the less privileged groups of our society. That’s why we really want to give someone the opportunity to do that – the opportunity to be part of having a genuine and lasting impact on a community.’
‘We recognise that not everyone is in the position to be able to do this so that’s why we’re offering a 14-day programme for free, to ensure that the feeling of connection and goodwill is accessible for all.’
Applicants must be over the age of 18 but the competition is open to anyone across the world, no matter where they live.
The only criteria for the successful applicant is that they must have a passion for travelling and a genuine interest in volunteering.
A Volunteering Solutions judging panel will select their favourite photo and will notify the successful applicant via Instagram within 21 days of the closing date. Applications close at 11:59pm on Sunday, January 23.
