Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra (Neeraj Chopra) Diamond has set a new national record in the league. In the Diamond League being played in Stockholm, Neeraj Chopra threw 89.94 meters in the first attempt and broke his own national record. Earlier, on June 14, Neeraj Chopra played in the Pavo Nurmi Khel in Turku (Paavo Nurmi Games) Set a national record by throwing 89.30. There he managed to win a silver medal. Neeraj set a national record in the first attempt, but then his next throw was only 84.37 meters. In the third attempt, Neeraj improved once again and threw 87.46 meters. Medals not awarded in the Diamond League
Four Diamond Leagues were to be played this year, the first of which was played in Doha. Neeraj did not participate as he was not fit. The next Diamond League will be played in Monaco on August 10 and the last Diamond League of the year will be played in Lausanne on August 26. This will be followed by the Diamond League final on September 8 in Zurich.
In the Diamond League, players are not awarded medals but are awarded points according to their sport (position). 8 points for the first place player and 7 points for the second place player. After all the leagues are completed the players who are part of the top four in terms of points play the final. Neeraj is currently in fourth place due to not participating in the first league.
Neeraj Chopra participated in the Diamond League for the first time since 2018
Neeraj Chopra had earlier participated in the Diamond League in Zurich in August 2018. He is fourth with a throw of 85.73 meters. But even then he set a national record. Neeraj has played in seven Diamond Leagues before today, three in 2017 and four in 2018 but did not win a medal. Has been in fourth place twice.
This tournament very important before the World Championships
This is the biggest tournament for Neeraj Chopra ahead of next month’s World Championships in the United States. All three medalists of the Tokyo Olympics were on the field. Johannes Vetter of Germany, who has crossed most of the 90-meter hurdles in the current era of javelin throwers, is out due to injury.
