The Manchester City forward is hoping for more success at the World Cup, which will take place in 2018, after notably scoring the game-winning goal for the Lionesses as they defeated Germany in the Euro 2022 final this summer.
“I want to feel that victorious feeling even more,” Kelly remarked.
“I don’t think one medal around your neck is enough; I just want to win. You are so much more eager to come back on the field after doing it with such a terrific group of girls. Since I am still young, it goes without saying that I would love to have greater success in my job.
England won its first international championship since 1966 thanks to Kelly’s extra-time goal, and she believes the team will get better after making history.
The objective will always stick in people’s thoughts, she continued. I want to constantly experience that moment, but I also want to have a lot of these wonderful experiences (in the future).
“I believe it simply fuels my desire to grow and learn. I am excited by the fact that I still have a lot to learn. We’ve had such a great time, and things can only get better because I’m getting better.
Kelly acknowledges that her heightened public image as a result of England’s victory is “a little ridiculous.”
I’m simply a regular girl, isn’t that right? It’s a little odd to want to stand out a little more on the street.
When a car full of girls stopped up as I was on my way to meet the girls in City, they began yelling my name. I was waving when I realized I didn’t recognize any of these folks; I had thought it was the City gals.
