Annual returns from 2014 to 2023 were included in this analysis. The first tenure of the Modi government began in 2014. Only those equity schemes which have completed 10 years were selected for analysis.
They include Largecap, Midcap, Smallcap, Large & Midcap, Multicap, Flexicap, Focused Fund, ELSS, Value, Contra, Sectoral/Thematic, Aggressive Hybrid Fund, Arbitrage, Dynamic Asset Allocation/Balanced Advantage Fund and e. Categories included.
14 arbitrage funds in 36 equity schemes
14 arbitrage funds are among the 36 equity schemes that have consistently returned positive returns over the last decade. Similarly, there are nine equity savings, six balanced advantage/dynamic asset allocation funds, three sectoral funds and one each from aggressive hybrid, ELSS, largecap and multicap funds. ICICI Prudential ELSS Tax Saver Fund is one of the schemes that has never given negative returns during this period.
HDFC Equity Savings Fund, ICICI Pru Equity Savings Fund and Kotak Equity Savings Fund are also included in the list. Of the three sector funds, the two that managed to maintain positive returns were focused on the Consumer Trends sector. Canara Robeco Consumer Trends Fund and Mirre Asset Great Consumer Fund maintained their consistent performance without negative returns. The third sectoral fund in this category was ICICI Pru FMCG Fund.
Kotak Equity Arbitrage Fund is also included in this list. It is the oldest and largest arbitrage fund by assets under management. Similarly, Canara Robeco Equity Hybrid Fund is the only aggressive hybrid fund that has avoided consistently negative returns during this period. Edelweiss Large Cap Fund is the only large-cap scheme to buck this trend.
