The T20 World Cup 2024 has proved to be a great one for the Indian team. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India won the title by defeating South Africa in the final. In the final played in Barbados on June 29, the Indian team fulfilled an 11-year wait. This World Cup played in America and West Indies has become memorable for Indian fans but not everyone has benefited. Now there has been an appeal against the International Cricket Council, in which the loss of 100 million dollars, i.e. 830 crore rupees has been talked about.
830 crore discount demanded
In this world cup played in the month of June, many matches were played in America. While the Super-8 semifinals and finals, including some group stage matches, were played in the Caribbean. The World Cup was organized for the first time in America. It was the first time that international cricket was played in New York. For which a temporary stadium was prepared in Naiso County. Now everyone knows the result of the match played on this ground. Also some matches did not prove to be good. Because of which, now the broadcaster of the tournament, Disney Star, has demanded a discount of 830 crore rupees from the ICC.
The Disney star was damaged
A media report claimed that the Disney star had written a letter to the ICC some time back and sought a $100 million concession in the broadcasting deal for losses due to the T20 World Cup match. Last year, the ICC gave away broadcasting rights. In which the Disney star bought 3 billion dollars for approximately 25 thousand crore rupees. This deal started with the T20 World Cup. In his argument, the Disney star said that several matches including India-Pakistan did not prove as good as expected, this appeal of the star was also discussed in the ICC board meeting held in Colombo last month.
Some matches were canceled due to rain and some were short overs. The star has demanded a discount, raising questions on the timing of the matches and the marketing of the tournament, among others.
