An important initiative has been taken by the Railway Board to promote digital payments. In order to encourage rail passengers to adopt digital means for unreserved ticket booking, it has been decided to give a direct benefit of 3% to passengers while booking tickets on 'RailOne' app.
Currently, passengers who book unreserved tickets through R-Wallet on the RailOne app are being offered 3 percent bonus cashback. Now the Railway Board has taken an important decision to make this facility more extensive. According to the decision, passengers booking unreserved tickets on the RailOne app through all digital payment modes—such as UPI, debit card and credit card—except R-Wallet will get a direct discount of 3 percent on the ticket value.
However, passengers will continue to enjoy the same 3 percent bonus cashback while booking tickets through R-Wallet as before. That is, R-Wallet users will be benefited both ways—cashback and direct discounts to other digital payment users.
This 3 percent discount/benefit scheme announced by the Railway Board will be effective from 14 January 2026 to 14 July 2026. During this period, the impact of the scheme and passenger feedback will be evaluated, based on which further action will be taken.
This initiative of the Railway Board will increase the use of digital payments among passengers and make the process of unreserved ticket booking easier, faster, convenient and transparent. Booking tickets through digital means will save passengers time and also provide them with direct financial benefits.
