Russia should not be allowed to take advantage of Wimbledon
On Wednesday 20 April the All England Club issued a statement announcing a ban on the entry of Russian and Belarusian players. It said the management of the All England Club and Championship (Wimbledon) was with those affected by the Ukraine war and, like the rest of the world, condemned the Russian action. The statement also said that given Wimbledon’s reputation, it would not allow Russia to take advantage of its players. “We will not accept entries from Russia and Belarus for the 2022 Championship,” he added.
Many giants will not be seen
Following the action against Russia-Belarus, this time the tournament will be held without many big players. The biggest name in this is Russia’s top men’s singles player Daniel Medvedev.
