Competition Commission of India (CCI) On Thursday raided the offices of two leading Amazon India retailers, CloudTel and Aperio Retail, for alleged violations of competition law. The Reuters news agency quoted sources as saying that it was not immediately clear what the motive was for the raid. Amazon has indirect equity stakes in both of these sellers. This means that there is a lot of speculation and speculation about Amazon having a stake in these companies, which is not on paper. However, Amazon has not yet released a statement on the matter. Reuters reports that even CCI officials have not commented on the matter.
What is Cloudtail?
You go to order on Amazon. Below most of the products you will find written who is selling them? Who is sending the signature-name-address of the seller on the bill-receipt? In most cases the name will be CloudTel.
What is the charge on Cloudtail?
Reuters in its investigation last year found that Amazon had been violating Indian laws for years in favor of a group of select vendors, including CloudTel. That is, even though many companies are selling similar goods, Amazon will insist on selling goods through CloudTel. At the same time, Amazon said it does not prefer these sellers. Last year, Amazon and CloudTel decided that CloudTel would cease to be a vendor from May 2022.
At the same time, CloudTel has a long history of controversy. Retailers affiliated with Amazon allege that CloudTel has been favored by the e-commerce company from the beginning. Which has caused huge losses to small traders.
CloudTel India, which drives about 80% of Amazon sales and was recently acquired by the retailer, is in the process of closing down despite ongoing raids.
