IPL media rights deal crosses Rs 44,000 crore
The auction process for IPL media rights started on Sunday. On the first day package A and package B i.e. TV and digital broadcasting rights were bid and on the first day the bid crossed Rs 43000 crore, on the second day the amount stopped crossing Rs 44000 crore, i.e. the cost of media rights for a match was 107. Crores of rupees have been crossed. The IPL has become the second most expensive sports league in the world
Collision between large companies
Companies bidding for IPL media rights 2023-27 include big names like Sony, Disney Star, Zee and Reliance. While some companies bid for both TV and digital rights, some focused only on digital rights.
Media rights were divided into 4 packages
Let me tell you, the media rights of IPL for the next 5 years were divided into 4 packages in which their original value was determined, the total base price of media rights was Rs 32,000 crore. The package i.e. the base price of TV rights was Rs 49 crore per match. Package B i.e. the base price of digital rights was Rs 33 crore per match. Apart from this, the base price of Package C was Rs 11 crore and the base price of Package D was Rs 3 crore.
