Board president Sourav Ganguly said that the entire domestic season will be organized in 2022-23. This time Madhya Pradesh won the Ranji Trophy title. A team from Madhya Pradesh has done this for the first time.

The Indian Cricket Board wants to start the men’s senior season with the Duleep Trophy which will be played from September 8. Along with this, BCCI is also considering organizing the Irani Cup from October 1 to 5. Earlier the Duleep Trophy was held on a knockout basis between five regions, but later it became a three-team match based on a round-robin format with the top two teams advancing to the final. The Irani Cup pits the reigning Ranji Trophy champions against the Rest of India team.

The option of hosting Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy was also discussed. Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) will be played from October 11 while Vijay Hazare Trophy (ODI format) will be played from November 12. The Ranji Trophy is likely to start from December 13, with the knockout matches being played from February 1. As per a format discussed in the meeting, the Ranji Trophy could have four groups of eight elite teams and one group of six plate teams. Ganguly said that women’s under-16 category will be introduced from next season.
